Area size

The Mediterranean basin has been divided into as many as 128 sea areas (compared to the 22 offered by Meteomar). Each sea area has a different size, based on the local weather requirements. Sea areas are wider offshore, where there are no particularly vital weather-related elements, whereas they are smaller, and vary in shape, along the coast, as the different coastal orography considerably affects weather conditions. In order to facilitate the search, the 128 areas have been grouped into 7 macro areas, which do not share the same weather forecast..
